Alexa

I love Alexa Chung more and more every day. Charmingly boyish/nana, gorgeously awkward and refreshingly blunt. And INSANE style. Am addicted to reading her columns for The Independent.

My Cowgirl Hero

Oh man this is too slick. Architectural, sculptural (and way to hot) cut outs. Futuristic but also darkly primal. And the Balmain doesn't look to "Balmainy". Freja kills it.. As always.

Into The Light

Oh wow. Love this. Karl and black&white are a match made in heaven (whatever the medium, photography, outfit etc etc). Anja looks stunningly sculptural and statuesque - look at those body lines. Love the juxtaposition of amazing fashion-y pieces (leather paneled skinnies, white feathered jacket, sheer dress) with the manly hobo boots - really grounds (literally?) the looks.

Valley Girl

Who would have thought that Vlada the "ethereal Russian angel" (and someone who's appeal I never really got) could pull out such a crazy-cute "Valley Girl" editorial? This could have easily become cheesy and cliche, but she brings some calmness and class to it. The styling so super fun and nuts. Love.

Glitter

Uni/life pressures (only a week and a half left - SO much work due) and seriousness have left me craving lighthearted (but not priced) sparkly frivolities like these. All of which are ironically glitzy, fun and just plain pretty.

Never thought I'd say this, but I want hairy feet!! In the best sense of the word. These would keep my poor scrawny feet warm and chilblain free! And think how badass these would look in motion?

Clogged And Desperate

Okay so words can not describe HOW MUCH I want these Miu Miu booties (clogs?! Even!?). Could they tick any more boxes if they tried? Wooden heel, platform, studs, aged leather, sheepskin, ankle boot, laces. Argh. Need. Now.

Tv Fix

Yesterday I treated myself to a trip to my fave boutique in town (and one of a handful that I ever make an effort to go to) Black Box - had worked a million weekends in a row and have so much uni work to do that I actually needed some retail therapy to keep me relatively sane. As always, it didn't disappoint. And bonus - they have some Tv pieces in! I pretty much died - didn't think I'd ever be seeing this in New Zealand. Thank god for Black Box. I laybyed (laybought?) a pair of these babies - pure (and thick!) merino leopard print leggings. So amazingly warm, words actually can't describe (go and try the last pair - a medium - on for yourself and see). These are def a necessity for my poor body this winter (lack of any circulation means I am always cold).

Orthopedic

God know why, but for some reason lately I've been seriously attracted to any black shoes that are big, clumpy and more than vaguely orthopedic. Possibly could be a subconscious by-product of my actually crappy feet; scrawny-skinny, flat and basically collapsing in on themselves. Pretty. I also love footwear that says "Fuck off" (hence why I live in my Docs).

Havana Rendezvous

Love how these deliciously o.t.t, trippy colourful metallic pieces are dirtied up perfectly by some sweat and dishevelment c/o Havana Cuba. On another tangent, although I initially wasn't a fan, that leopardprint-on-acid by Lanvin is really growing on you. Oh Alber.

Jonestown

This blows my mind. Does not get much cooler than this. As soon as the holidays roll around (two weeks! OH MY GOD so much work to do before then) I've got a ton of style-homage posts about my idols like Brian and co planned.

26/05/09: Net-A-Porter

I love a skinny legging (still needing to get my little hands on some Black Rats) but they have to be paired with an oversized top. This drapey, cropped sleeve cashmere cardie would be perfect layered over a soft loose tank. Ironically flashy gold accessories would be perfect to kill any potential boringness created by a monochrome look.

Seeing Red

I love red with denim. Red is a colour I have trouble wearing - being blonde I usually uber cliche in a straight-up-red dress, and it often washes me the hell out. Denim really tones down the intensity and connotations it has - particularly this perfectly battered vest courtesy of our girl Erin Wasson.

White Moon Rising

I am a total Lover fiend, and have been so for years. Every collection is mind-blowing and perfect, and I LOVE the story behind every one. I think my favorite back store would have to be for their "Altamont" collection - but I am a tad biased as I am totally obsessed with the Rolling Stones. At the moment I'm pretty much hanging out like a junkie for their Summer 09/10 collection "White Moon Rising". Can. Not. Wait

Magnus In Miami

Love the colours here - bright blue, the creamy outfit on a blonde and all washed out and sunbleached. So makes me think of summer, sadly ours is long gone. At least we can enjoy it vicariously (and jealously) - I always look forward to seeing what everyone in the northern hemisphere is doing. When we were in summer I was longing for massive chubby knits, ankle boots and a million layers. Go figure.

Russian Ribbon

Those infamous Louis Vuitton bunny ears that Marc Jacobs did for fall have really grown on me - so cute but because they have that messy, crumpled quality they avoid being saccharine.  Love the styling here - quirky and cute. Sexy black lace, comfy stripy jumper and semi-nana pearls. Love.

Beauty Wish List

I so need/want some new makeup treats - and I'm not talking about Maybelline mascara from the supermarket (although that is also needed right now).  I already have one of YSL's Rouge Volupte lipsticks (in the PERFECT shade of apricot/coral) and its one of the best I have ever bought. Definitely need another. And their Touche Eclat is definitely needed right now.. Trust me yo do not want to see the dark circles under my eyes (a charming by-product of end-of-semester-itus, 3 x 5:20 am wakeups a week, working 3/4 weekend this month + other job also). As you see, I think I deserve some treat!

Donna Karen Fall 09 Shoes

These I love. God I need a hot-as-hell pair of platform ankle booties - ideally with super fun features like print, texture, buckles etc. Unfortunately my scrawny midget feet are always swimming in all the pairs I have tried on so far! Search will continue.

19/05/09: Net-A-Porter

I love black outfits executed in differing textures; leather, wool, lace - all care of Lover. An all black outfit tends to be a tad harsh (especially on fair blondes like me, doh) but cream, grey and gold pieces are perfect to soften - and a fab excuse to pile on the accessories.

19/05/09: Streetstyle - The Males

I think I have menswear on the brain at the mo, god knows why. These looks are great though. I love a denim collar or cuff peeking out - it adds a real earthy, grunginess to an otherwise slick leather jacket and soft curly hair. I think guys pull of black and white looks better than girls - when I try it I always feel like I'm uber "matchymatchy".

Fur Accessories

Fur accessories were all over the fall runways - had me pretty much hyperventilating with excitement. So beautiful and such a good way to do fur without being too intense. The leather and fur on those clutches contrasts so gorgeously. And I love that creepy little fur cuff with the eye!

18/05/09: Retail Therapy

I found half a minute yesterday to treat myself to a teeny bit of shopping - hit up Karen Walker (heaven as usual), Macaroni Penguin - unfortunately none of the To Sir With Love they got in is quite what I'm looking for... No new cashmere for me. Tear. And popped into Superette. Tried on menswear - typical I know, but mens tees fit SO much better than womens ones and tend to be more refined. I tried on a Bassike tee in a gorgeous army green, but ended up leaving with a good old American Apparel v-neck that I have needed for ages (kept planning outfits around it and then realising I hadn't actually bought it yet.. My bad). Loved that Chronicles Of Never vest too.. It hangs beautifully and is the perfect grey. Boys are so lucky. After months (possibly a whole year) of lusting after Ksubi's 'The Ara' sunnies I have decided to invest. They are just too damned perfect. Still wanting Karen Walker Helter Skelters too. Winter still requires sunnies.

RUSSH May 09

Got, read (twice so far) and scanned the new issue of Russh in the space of two days! Infinitely better than my usual drawn-out magazine habits. Words can't actually describe how much I love this magazine, so I won't even try. The new issue is a stunner - I fell in love with the cover the minute I saw it online about a month ago. However those of us stranded in New Zealand have to wait nearly a whole month after our Australian counterparts to get our hands on it. So worth it thought.

"Rockette"
This editorial is what I'd been waiting for... Breathtaking. The colours are gorgeous - the soft brown background, gentle lighting and her hair and skin colour are all so gorgeous. The featured pieces are to die for as well - soft tailoring, luxe metal details (zips! Lots!). That Christopher Kane scalloped dress is out-of-this-world beautiful and ethereal. Im still desperately coveting a chainmail-esque piece.. God knows where I'll pick something like that up. And don't think DIY is a viable option in this case.
The Rodarte looks gorgeous, as always. And I totally die for that hair. Constance Jablonski is a stunner.

"Judy Is A Punk"
Shanay Hall is def one of my fave Aussie models -  and a frequent star of Russh. She fits their aesthetic so well. As soon as i saw the creamy pink jacket on the left I knew it was an Ellery - and was right. Bonus point for me.
Photographer: Michael Corridore
Fashion Editor: Stevie Dance

"Mix And Match"
God I wish my dressing table looked exactly like this... Seriously. Life would be tres complete! Unfortunately mines a hot mess of Liberty boxes and Bunnykins (yup.. I know.. Still use it even though I got it when I was two) bowls full of jewelry and makeup. And blonde hair everywhere - not very editorial worthy.
"Undercover Lover"
I am a total jacket/coat fiend... A few years ago I was strictly cardie girl, but my outerwear obsession started insidiously and has now undoubtably taken over. I love all kinds - blazer, leather, denim, army, pea etc etc. Love these three featured. The army jacket is such a classic - reminds me of the one I am wearing literally right now (just got home from work). The center one is a Karen Walker stunner - still in total love with her double breasted jackets from this winter.

Showroom 22's Media Open day for Summer 09/10: Volume Two

Wish I could have posted this in the morning today, but sadly uni/gym/work combo got in the way. Heres the d-low from the rest of our amazing afternoon at Showroom 22's Media Open Day;

The suits and shirts from Working Style were heavenly. I am a total sucker for menswear - and only buy mens shirts, women's generally just do not fit me properly (cursed with broad shoulders. But I like mens shirts better anyway, so its a perk). Gorgeous fine corduroy jackets - so elegant. Eddie and Tim were super nice as well - and put up with me saying the jackets were cute - sorry guys, not an ideal operative word for menswear. My bad.

Sherieyvonne
Source: Sherieyvonne

Amazing details from this collection; inserts, multiple collars and reversible pieces. And I loved the cut out shoulder details.

TwentySevenNames
The collection from TwentySevenNames is to die for - we were so excited we were practically hyperventilating. It was an amazing sartorial lovechild of Jimi Hendrix and the nineties. Insanely cool.

Loved the peach and white denim pieces - such a fresh take on ubiquitous pieces like the vest, jacket and cutoffs. Such perfect summer hues too.
Left to Right: Peaches short shorts, Peaches denim jacket & Sleeveless cut off denim vest

I am seriously coveting the tee on the left. The image doesn't do it justice - its the palest neutral pink, like dirty ballerina tights - in the BEST possible way, I am pretty much obsessed with that colour right now. Its delicately sheer and I would definitely thrash this.
Left to Right: Basic scoop neck tee, Jimi-James tshirt dress, Crush with eyeliner skirt

The cropped tops were all heavenly - the zip lace would be great even for winter. And the stripe is cute, nautical and I love the slightly long crop length. Would most probably buy it a size or two too big I think.
Left to Right: Little kicks lace cardi, Monterey pop crop top, Lace cardi and Lace tights

So much angelically sexy white lace. Brigette and I both NEED that bodysuit. Much to her disapproval however I really loved those little briefs. Wearable? Surely... Somehow..
Left to Right: Little wing bodysuit, Art star check dress, Slip-knot lace dress, Lace knickers

Love the jeans and leggings that featured knee patches! I made a beeline for these when I saw the cute little suede patch peeking out of the rail.
Left to Right: Oxford knit zip jeans, Oxford patched tights

Standouts investment pieces were definitely these two stunning jackets. The frogging on the left is all hand done (and amazing). The suede fringe jacket is actually quite slick - has amazing panels on the arms and elbow.
