28/08/09: Net-A-Porter

I love a good nude/black mix. The soft femininity and innocence of blush tones is counterbalance by slick black pieces, and details like hardware, jewellery and lace really pop.

23/07/09: Net-A-Porter

There's something comforting, especially in winter, about rugging up in classic black, grey and white - pretty foolproof, yet still eye catching and stylish. I think it works best with a textured piece or two - particularly the luxury (and warmth!) of velvet.

Stella Loves Bambi Too!!!

Ohmygod stop it. Stella loves Bambi too!!!!  These are some shots from her Fall 09 campaign - hitting the September mags. It seriously doesn't get much more awesome than this. I mentioned recently to all of you that I have a never ending love for deeriness, so you can understand I am totally tripping all over this!

Birthday Wishlist

I love lists, especially of things I want - although my normal lists are usually just of the millions of things I have to do, they are still satisfying to cross off). Upcoming 21st birthday (one week! Psyched) has seen me thinking of what I'd like - I always hate having a birthday at this time of year, as stock in stores is just old winter things (of which I have usually bought what I liked already) but summer isn't in yet. So whenever asked "Emma what do you want! Just tell me!" all I can answer is "umm I don't know? sorry.." V frustrating for all parties involved.

When it comes to birthdays, as usual I have a "Realistic" wishlist and an "Ohmygod In My DREAMS" list.

REALISTIC
Clockwise:
Karen Walker "Helter Skelters" - have loved these since they first came out, so have laybyed as a birthday present to myself. Excellent.
Karen Walker "Leaf Pendant"- this is quite meaningful, as (I think) the leaves look like gumleaves. And as I grew up in Australia I find these quite touching and special.
Floral Dr Martens - I am a fiend of both Docs and the classic liberty-esque floral, therefore I NEED these.
Ksubi "Aras" in Seventies Tortoiseshell - well I did need these, but recent post-hairchop trying on at Superette revealed they tragically don't suit me anymore. Lack of hair means they swamp and overwhelm me. I did shed a tear, not gonna lie.
Rayban "Clubmasters" - Thank god I still suit (and covet) these.
Victor & Rolf Flowerbomb - I go into an olfactory trance every time I walk into Karen Walker. Pure heaven.
Converse Black Leather Hightops - I know everyone and their dog has these, but I love them. And I only like chucks in white on white or black on black. These would so go everywhere with me.
Deadly Ponies "Mr Flower Pouch" - One of my all time fave Deadly Pony bags, soft slouchy buttery perfection.
Dior "Pure Poison" - simply intoxicating. And, as I am shallow, love the bottle.

And...

EMMA YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING
Clockwise:
Karen Walker "Cigarette Butt Charm" - I have lusted after this FOR-EV-ER. Best charm ever ohmygod but this will never happen :( sigh.
Karen Walker "Oval Chequerboard Cocktail Ring" - likewise this, have loved since I was way back in high school. It is quite possible one of the most perfect cocktail rings - and uber wearable on a daily basis (as opposed to the intense knuckle dusters I also covet)
Stella McCartney "Wooden Platform Boots" - words can not describe. These are the ultimate.
Karen Walker "Owl Ring" - This little dude is too cute, and super symbolic/meaningful as my late grandmother collected little owls statues (I'm lucky enough to have some of her collection - they are insane)
Alexander Wang "Oversized Metallic Sweater Dress" - I am a massive fan of big ovesized tees/sweaters (comfort/body hiding/warm/etc) and this is possible the godfather of all.

Dark and interesting never fails. Soft fur and rough leather in semi-primal finishes work so well with feminine lace and cool metals. And that owl clutch as just awesome.

Harvest

Neil Young's iconic Harvest album has one of my all time favorite covers - so simple yet so eye catching and classic. You see it and you know instantly that it couldn't be any other album. It includes "Old Man" - one of my favorite songs ever. Its poignant, earthy and makes you think about the past and the future and life in general. Young later said the record "put me in the middle of the road. Traveling there soon became a bore so I headed for the ditch. A rougher ride but I saw more interesting people there."

Dress Up

So I seriously need some fun going out dresses.. Had a massive outfit meltdown while getting dressed on saturday night; tears, insecurity, the works - classic Dumb Girl moment. Something must be done.

I really want something with sleeves - as my total lack of circulation means I feel the cold terribly. I want sparkles, metallic, lace, details and monochrome.

My Own Private Idaho

Watched Gus Van Sant's My Own Private Idaho today - wow. River Pheonix's intensity was mind blowing. And god the story (although not plot driven) was tragic. The Shakespearean element was also really interesting. I love the stark look of the white jeans and black tank he wears throughout - although how they manage to stay clean through all his hustling, traveling and drug taking I don't know.

3/06/09: The Outnet

I love outfits executed in creamy, peach and tan colours. Such a gorgeous warm look - and you can get away with wearing a bunch of different shades. Works really well with softly draped/gathered pieces. I've been wanting a pale apricot tee since early summer last year - still hunting for the perfect one!

Glitter

Uni/life pressures (only a week and a half left - SO much work due) and seriousness have left me craving lighthearted (but not priced) sparkly frivolities like these. All of which are ironically glitzy, fun and just plain pretty.

9/05/09: Net-A-Porter

Love the Stella McCartney exclusives that Net-A-Porter's been having lately - I think that cloud print shirt is my fave (love the washed out blue/grey and the dirty cream). Would be perfect with those panel leggings and asymmetric shoes. I love paring something soft/pastel/printed with some sharp black pieces.

6/05/09: Net-A-Porter & The Outnet

I always find myself going back to the colour combination of white, cream, denim blue and soft brown - especially when I can't think what to wear. Its just casual enough but chic at the same time, and soft but not do girly. And you can wear a bunch of different shades but never clash. 100% failsafe. Actually I've pretty much got stuff like this to put on after the gym this mornin (Karen Walker acid wash skinnys, cream cashmere tshirt, tan leather jacket). Must have had this in the back of my mind last night when packing!

The Met's Costume Institute Gala 09: Jessica Stam, Kate Bosworth, Diane Kruger & Kate Moss

I can't get over how mind blowing Jessica Stam looks in that Rodarte.. It is absolutely amazing with her colouring - fair skin and warm blonde hair. This is how its done. The Boz does Old Hollywood without an ounce of cliche. Loving the side parted hair and the black lace Stella McCartney - so elegant and just a little bit of siren and romantic gothic.
Diane Kruger manages to look super strong even though wearing stunning, delicate white Chanel lace. And the divine Miss Moss is literally the golden girl of the night in (and with) Marc Jacobs - love the turban (had been hearing rumours about it for the past week).

L'Hirondell

I love Anja Rubik, but much prefer her in editorials than on the runway - and heres a perfect example why..
The blonde mop and endless tanned limbs are perfect - especially here. I've been coveting crisp white origami dresses ever since seeing the one that Stella McCartney showed for Spring 09. Love the cut outs and patterns of the second shot, rendered perfectly in a nude palette.

Muse: Jerry Hall

Right now I'm loving the young Jerry Hall. Statuesque, long blond hair and Mick on her arm. She was featured recently as one of Style.Com's "Beauty Icons". When I think jerry, I think body con, cut outs, asymmetric and long tailored blazers - all in block colours of black, cream, or brights. And with some kickass bold jewelry of course. All of which are major trends from the recent shows.

Russh has also been on a similar wavelength, with a stunningly sexy and refined editorial dedicated to, and named after, Hall.

Classic pieces would be bandage dresses, metallics and a sharp oversized blazer - all of which I am digging in a cream/nude palette (a fave right now) as it gives it both a softer, more feminine edge, but also a sense of high maintenance/untouchable/pampered.

Adidas By Stella McCartney

I always love what Stella McCartney does for Adidas. It's so nice to see beautiuful, feminine and fashionable (yet high tec and performance enhancing) sportswear. Slogging it out at the gym is so much more enjoyable (and easier and motivating) when you feel good and look good. Confidence helps so much! I have a couple of pieces already, and they are a pleasure to wear - and def worth the price if you work out frequently. I really want some of her new season pieces. Adidas in Newmarket called me about them a week ago but haven't had a chance to pop in! Probz all gone by now though!

Love the campaign shots with the beautiful (and fave) Angela Lindvall.

And Stella now does swimwear!! Am v tempted to take up swimming again. Not quite sure how these would go down at my local pool however.
