More Classics

Black, white, denim and grey are always timeless. As is the subtle balance of classic pieces from the masculine and feminine ends of the spectrum. My favorite looks generally boil down to several masculine elements like a big slouchy jumper, a perfect coat; combined with a piece that is a bit girly and innocent (although not at all saccharine) like a denim a-line skirt - or polka dots!! Topped off with some blatant sexy-clunky heels - the best kind there is.

5/09/09: Net-A-Porter Gilt

Sometimes the perfect thing to visually indulge in on a saturday morning is something that will inspire you for the impending night. I don't know about you, but sequins, black, gold and leather always gets me in the mood for some revellery.

Ps: Isn't that ace YSL necklace the perfect way to flash the iconic (and heavenly) logo with class.

4/09/09: Net-A-Porter Classics

I think my brain gets a little fatigued from the constant onslaught of print, studs, denim, leather, fur etc that I feed it. Some times it just needs a cool breath of air in the form of simple classics - that lack all the bells and whistles, but are all the better for it.

It's very much "borrowed from the boys" with perfect shirts, cool slouchy jackets and flat shoes, but is feminised with elements like a tight leather skirt just peeping from your shirt tails.

4/09/09: Net-A-Porter Chloe

I am undoubtably a die-hard Chloe fan . I love the mix of femininity, tailoring, quirkiness, simplicity and naivety. The colour palettes are also to die for. The label has gotten ever stronger since Hannah MacGibbon came on board.

I love the idea of mixing their quirkier pieces - like jacquard print pants and a shearling jacket with simple basics like a jersey tank and brogues.

POP Fall/Winter 09/10

“This is Pop World, Free Your Mind, Put Your Head Back in the Clouds and Start the Ch-Ch-Ch-Change”
So I've already mentioned recently that I'm seriously coveting pastel hair - totally inexplicably. The look has popped up again in the latest issue of Pop magazine in various hues.
I really love the Miu Miu and Chloe pieces in particular. And hi, aqua skin? Can't help but like.

"Spent!"
We all know I'm a sucker for "Nanna Chic", so I love that they kitted Stam out in bundles of clothing; Chanel suits, grandpa socks, scarves, glasses, and cardigans galore.
Photogrpaher: Paolo Roversi

"The Channels"
This editorial in particular is beyond dreamy. It captures the freedom, sensuality and the earthiness of a bohemian escape in the tropics.
The images are saturated, washed out, hazy and imperfect. Trippy and suprising.

BB

The Poly always does disheveled, sexy blonde so well - yet like The Kass, still remains high fashion and classy. Love that they have put leopard print, thigh high boots and slick black pieces in woodsy countryside.

I think that Chloe jacket/cape/thing is one of my favorite pieces of the whole fall season - dramatic yet earthy, and actually semi-practical!

I love cream and black/navy together - its so much softer than black and white (and lacks any waiter connotations). I also love the juxtaposition of pairing a chic little shift dress and buttoned cardy with rough leather and metal details.

Getting My Marr On Tomorrow: au revoir scarecrow hair

So tomorrow I am fiiinally getting my scarecrow-like mop of hair seen to. The wizards at Stephen Marr will be working there magic. I definitely need this, have been doing a "hair detox" all year - haven't died it since November and didn't straighten for two months. Love the colour thats growing out (medium blonde) but the ends are in shockingly dry/split condition c/o it being bleached platinum a couple of years ago (my bad, sorry hair).

I've been inspired for a while by all the gorgeous natural dark blondes around - and love that as it's pretty much my natural hue it should mean low damage/maintenance.

The previously mentioned Chloe Blondes from the Spring 09 campaign are stunning.

And I have had a massive crush on Abbey Lee's hair since forever. Honorable mentions to Alyona and Edita.

Cut wise - I have made the big decision to get a short, blunt, dishevelled bob. My obscenely damaged ends NEED to come off like asap. And a shorter cut will hopefully convey an ounce of maturity. I think it will literally take a weight off my shoulders. A tousled, boyish crop has a natural and carefree feel. I particularly love Kim Noorda's cut and colour.

And you all know I have a total girl crush on Alexa Chung - particularly love her endearingly awkward crop.

The blunt, messy fringed 'do of Anna Selezneva is also one of my faves - particularly loved it in this French Vogue editorial.. But I think a fringe would be one change to many, and they tend to make me look uber young.
Wish me luck!!!

Goldilocks

There's something so classic, iconic and healthy about swinging flaxen locks. Both Chloe and Gucci are famous for the blondes they use in their campaigns. And Lily, Abbey Lee, RaquelAnja and Natasha are in high demand. Which is your favorite? The Chloe Girl or the Gucci Girl?

Chloe: Fall/Winter 09 Campaign - More!!!

A second Chloe campaign shot has popped up and is just as heavenly as the first. Seriously it doesn't get much better than these. I've always loved the Chloe Girls. And Hannah MacGibbon is pretty much awesome - dying to see what she does for Spring 2010!

Chloe Accessories: Spring 09

I wish this was what it looked like when I toss my bag and shoes of when I get home. Although I do have a (faux) fur throw, I think it helps that the accessories are all ridiculously beautiful Chloe pieces. Im adoring the quirkiness (and uber wearability) of solidly sensible nana bags at the moment - but executed with quirks like hardware and interesting fabrics and colours.

Chloe: Fall/Winter 09 Campaign

Woke up do to find one of Chloe's fall/winter 09 campaign shots is out (on the net anyway). And its beautiful - but then again I didn't expect anything less because I LOVED the collection and what Hannah MacGibbon has been doing in general, and when are Chloe campaigns ever not mind blowingly awesome?

Harvest

Neil Young's iconic Harvest album has one of my all time favorite covers - so simple yet so eye catching and classic. You see it and you know instantly that it couldn't be any other album. It includes "Old Man" - one of my favorite songs ever. Its poignant, earthy and makes you think about the past and the future and life in general. Young later said the record "put me in the middle of the road. Traveling there soon became a bore so I headed for the ditch. A rougher ride but I saw more interesting people there."

Dress Up

So I seriously need some fun going out dresses.. Had a massive outfit meltdown while getting dressed on saturday night; tears, insecurity, the works - classic Dumb Girl moment. Something must be done.

I really want something with sleeves - as my total lack of circulation means I feel the cold terribly. I want sparkles, metallic, lace, details and monochrome.

Sun Goddess

I'm loving washed out, sun bleached colourings in editorials at the moment - convey a dreamy, nostalgic feel of summer. Also still obsessed with Chloe's scalloped blazers.

Hair Ramble #2

God I have been tearing my hair out all day trying to upload the images for this post. Finally figured it was the colour profiles from Photoshop causing drrrama. And of course technical issues are great distractions from uni work.

So speaking of hair, I had a ramble the other day about the half (or more? maybe?) of me that is dying to lop of my hair into a scruffy bob. The rest of my is desperate for it to grow grow grow. Do I keep growing it? Am tempted to dye it darkblonde/lightbrown - am pretty much obsessed with this hair colour. Think young Brooke Shields circa Blue Lagoon and those Calvin Klein ads.

But am I ready to not be blonde? Have been for my WHOLE life. There is something heavenly about long, messy blonde locks. Typical of the iconic Chloe girls (as well as Chloe Sevigny).
Or should I maintain what I have at the moment? Midlength, growing out, wavy/disheveled - but occasionally bordering on scarecrow when I am v lazy.
Wow this post has been the ultimate in distraction. And sleep calls, 5 hours before wakeup and deadlines tomorrow. But only two sleeps until my five week mid semester break!! Hallelujah!

Chloe does Chloe

Our girl Chloe Sevigny has been nocking it out of the park lately - helped by some amazing pieces for the other Chloe.  I love those scallop edged blazers more and more every time I see them (even though I fell head over heels the minute they came out on the Spring runway). Also love Sevigny's Acne look on the far right - especially the hair (it divided people a tad from the sounds of it). The thing I love most about Sevigny is that she always looks relaxed, comfortable and like herself. But has fun with clothes and pushes the boundaries without looking contrived or forced. And she never looks over done.

3/06/09: The Outnet

I love outfits executed in creamy, peach and tan colours. Such a gorgeous warm look - and you can get away with wearing a bunch of different shades. Works really well with softly draped/gathered pieces. I've been wanting a pale apricot tee since early summer last year - still hunting for the perfect one!

14/05/09: Net-a-Porter

Gold black and cream is such a classic, failsafe look. Luxe gold + classic cream + edgy black leather = the perfect balance. Fun enough but serious enough (I tend to worry about veering too much to one or the other). I love love love that retro gold watch!

Indian Summer

This is one of the best Daria editorials I've seen in a while (not that she ever does anything remotely average). Love the fresh, summery feel.  Lots of Chloe and those sumptuously crushed Prada silks. Im still obsessed with those glasses. I'm thinking an intense search for the perfect pair is in order.
