Electric Company

Love the seventies vibe of these - and its contrast with the ladylike, english refinement that roses convey (to me anyway). They remind me somewhat of these shots of Karlie Kloss from not long ago.

Love Actually

I love the intoxicating femininity and romance of these, and Karlie is always a fave. Also, can't wait to smell Marc Jacob's new Lola perfume.

Chloe: Fall/Winter 09 Campaign - More!!!

A second Chloe campaign shot has popped up and is just as heavenly as the first. Seriously it doesn't get much better than these. I've always loved the Chloe Girls. And Hannah MacGibbon is pretty much awesome - dying to see what she does for Spring 2010!

Hair Ramble #2

God I have been tearing my hair out all day trying to upload the images for this post. Finally figured it was the colour profiles from Photoshop causing drrrama. And of course technical issues are great distractions from uni work.

So speaking of hair, I had a ramble the other day about the half (or more? maybe?) of me that is dying to lop of my hair into a scruffy bob. The rest of my is desperate for it to grow grow grow. Do I keep growing it? Am tempted to dye it darkblonde/lightbrown - am pretty much obsessed with this hair colour. Think young Brooke Shields circa Blue Lagoon and those Calvin Klein ads.

But am I ready to not be blonde? Have been for my WHOLE life. There is something heavenly about long, messy blonde locks. Typical of the iconic Chloe girls (as well as Chloe Sevigny).
Or should I maintain what I have at the moment? Midlength, growing out, wavy/disheveled - but occasionally bordering on scarecrow when I am v lazy.
Wow this post has been the ultimate in distraction. And sleep calls, 5 hours before wakeup and deadlines tomorrow. But only two sleeps until my five week mid semester break!! Hallelujah!

Alexander Wang: Pre Fall 09

God I love Alexander Wang's Spring 09 collection. Sexy grungy athletic perfection. It doesn't get much better than a fringed leather sweatshirt.. Seriously. Except maybe if its on Karlie Kloss.

PFW: Hussein Chalayan, Yves Saint Laurent, Givenchy,

HUSSEIN CHALAYAN
Love the slick black looks that came out for Hussein Chalayan's Fall 09 Collection. Leather and blazers is always a foolproof combination. Particularly love the leather details on the middle jacket.
As well as the black, the grey looks were also a standout for me. Little mini dresses that were so sexy but also look quite comfy and wearable. Great details like a slouchy neck, fembot breastplates - and a sick oversized leather jacket.

YVES SAINT LAURENT
I die for this zipped up leather one piece that Caroline Trentini wore for YSL's collection. She was awol from all the other fashion shows/weeks because the girl had an exclusive for YSL - it was so worth it. I would wear this with/under/over everything.

GIVENCHY
Amazing sheer pieces at in the Givenchy show. Love the drapes and layers of the third dress. And our girl Karlie looks like an angel (with a Death Stare).

LFW: Julien Macdonald, Josh Goot

JOSH GOOT
Our antipodean wonder boy that is Josh Goot showed a standout collection; retro-futuristic and inspired by geology and geography - which worked amazingly, although I'm biased as I'm a bit of a geo nerd (bad habit of spotting and naming cloud formations, karst landscapes etc, oh dear. Obviously I loved his cloud/sky prints from a few seasons ago). Anyhow, it kicked off with subtle colour blocking in neutral tones, then moved on to some amazing pieces that used map contour lines - the emphasized and flattered the body lines no end.
There were some standout layered and gathered body con dresses - amazing texture. Particularly love the beigey pink..
The highlight however was definitely the final looks - mind blowing prints combining the beauty of sedimentary layers with the colours and patterns of rock and minerals. Amazing.

JULIEN MACDONALD
Perfect black collection from Macdonald. The dresses are insane, starting off with the conservative(ish) strapless on Magda, then moving to some mind blowing knits (particularly love the texture and tactility of the third).
The separates outfits were even better however. Sheer, knitted, asymmetric tops; insane jackets (spiked shoulders anyone? I'm keen); cropped leather pants and unzipped skirts. Rounded off with some amazing booties.
And the furs just blew me away. Words cannot describe the first look on Karlie. The movement in the long grey fur, layered over a patterned mesh dress. It frames her face like a mane. If your going to do a one-tone outfit, do this.
