Hedi Does Anna.. Again

Hedi Slimane's work is always an infinite pleasure to look at. I loved his first shots of Anna Selezneva, and these I love more - probably because they feature more clothes than last time, and all of which I adore.

Getting My Marr On Tomorrow: au revoir scarecrow hair

So tomorrow I am fiiinally getting my scarecrow-like mop of hair seen to. The wizards at Stephen Marr will be working there magic. I definitely need this, have been doing a "hair detox" all year - haven't died it since November and didn't straighten for two months. Love the colour thats growing out (medium blonde) but the ends are in shockingly dry/split condition c/o it being bleached platinum a couple of years ago (my bad, sorry hair).

I've been inspired for a while by all the gorgeous natural dark blondes around - and love that as it's pretty much my natural hue it should mean low damage/maintenance.

The previously mentioned Chloe Blondes from the Spring 09 campaign are stunning.

And I have had a massive crush on Abbey Lee's hair since forever. Honorable mentions to Alyona and Edita.

Cut wise - I have made the big decision to get a short, blunt, dishevelled bob. My obscenely damaged ends NEED to come off like asap. And a shorter cut will hopefully convey an ounce of maturity. I think it will literally take a weight off my shoulders. A tousled, boyish crop has a natural and carefree feel. I particularly love Kim Noorda's cut and colour.

And you all know I have a total girl crush on Alexa Chung - particularly love her endearingly awkward crop.

The blunt, messy fringed 'do of Anna Selezneva is also one of my faves - particularly loved it in this French Vogue editorial.. But I think a fringe would be one change to many, and they tend to make me look uber young.
Wish me luck!!!

Enchanting Hawaii

This is dreamy. Golden, sun soaked shots of Anna Selezneva in creamy nudes and pinks. Sepia tinged sky and hard rock. I miss summer.

To Bob Or Not To Bob

So of late the bob has been insidiously creeping up on me... Even though I've been growing my hair long again for what seems like forever. As far as bobs go, I appreciate the sleekness of the Katie Holmes's do that has been oh so popular. But personally I love the blunt, scruff, tomboyish bobs that evoke childhood - overgrown boys hair or cut too short because "It will grow" girl hair. There's a nonchalance about - too cool to be polished. And a freedom and androgyny.

I love the short, messily straight bobs sported by Kim Noorda and Anna Selezneva - especially with the grown out colour. Also love the scruffy platinum that Sasha had in what was my favorite French Vogue editorial ever. Also loving the scruffy overgrown fringes on Sasha and Anna.
Queen of the Scruffy Bob is surely Alexa Chung - hers has had many styles, but always in the same vein.
But at the end of the day am I too chicken? And would it suit? I worry that a bob combined with my unfeminine figure (tall, flat chest and bum, broad shoulders) would just make me look like a gawky teenage boy?

Floral & Plaid

Love this. Very nineties, very cute - young, boyish, casual, grungy. Always love Selezneva's work. Glad I already have a floral shirt (aka steal it from Mama's closet regularly) and a slouchy grey sweatshirt! Easy.

Comme Frère et Soeur

Anna Selezneva does masculine/feminine for French Vogue - contrasting the two ends of the spectrum, as opposed to combining. And does it amazingly. Love the stark white interior with the wall detail and radiator. Makes the black pieces pop. And j'adore the bare feet in some of the shots - creates a strong sense of vulnerability and softness. But I do love the Balmain crystal studded heels too!

Hedi Does Anna

Hedi Slimane shoots Anna Selezneva. Hedi is always amazing, and Selezneva is one of my editorial faves - love everything she does in French Vogue. These shots are just beautiful, so classic. Love the hair, loose white tank and dangling cigarette.

PFW: Balmain

BALMAIN
I die. Christophe Decarnin's collections for Balmain get better and better - and Fall 09 is no different. He has continued many of his much coveted silhouettes and ideas from the past two collections, but developed and pushed them even further. Balmain is the epitome of the luxe/trash sexy/boyish aesthetic (that I love so dearly). It just makes me want to go out!

There were more of the signature sharp shouldered blazers + cropped skinny jeans. Love how the sharp jackets look effortlessly casual with soft tees and boyish low waisted pants.
I covet the luxurious tees - soft and loose and cut perfectly. And love the classic striped jersey done in SEQUINS.
As usual, Decarnin has produced some of the hottest little dresses of the season, which although totally sexy and deliciously trashy, don't ever border on vulgar or nasty. On another note, I really quite like those sparkly, one-armed half-sleeves on Freja and Anna and Anja.

More sharp jackets, but in these looks they contrast perfectly with the fluid harem pants - the movement in these is insane, they almost look molten.

One of my fave Balmain silhouettes is the strong shouldered, long sleeved mini dresses - so short, yet the lack of  skin on the top of the body is classy and the shoulders have a definite toughness. But they are still all totally fun (sequins and studs anyone?)
The one shouldered, ruffled numbers are totally sick - eighties/barbie/dynasty heaven.
Love the fresh looks of these geometric, futuristic pieces. Strong black linear patters, rich silver, and quilted leather. Love the sharp sweetheart neckline too - a refreshing twist on a usually cute (but somewhat saccharine) cut.
Also got a kick out of seeing three of my all time fave girls (and very rare on the catwalk these days) walk for Christophe; Erin, Angela and Carmen. This is how it's done - these girls are classics.
