The Rock Ring

The newest piece of jewellery from Karen Walker is out! I got a call last friday from the lovely Scarlet at the new Ponsonby store telling me they had a new ring in, so on sunday I made the pilgrimage. And I love - the Rock Ring is fully sick, a chunk of luxurious rubble to adorn your hand. I'm probably also partial to it as I seem to be in a Flintstones trip stylewise at the moment - loving everything rocks, bones and zigzag hems. The ring also comes with a rose gold stone, and I can't chose between them! Time shall tell however.

While I was there, I finally decided on a piece I wanted from the new collection (have had many a try on, but always indecisive). I found the perfect pair of pleated pants; the palest grey, short - and they look great cuffed, and with the perfect amount of volume in the front and back (I hate it when pleated pants have a tight ass, NOT a good look). And bonus points for the uber cute name "Royal Albert". I'll def be rocking these bad boys cuffed - they even look ace with flats.

It was an epic mission getting my size! Had to journey to all three stores (although I was doing a tiki-tour of the city anyway as I had a fam-date and uni) but eventually they were found, and laybyed. Excitement!

FASHION QUARTERLY: Spring 09

I got Fashion Quarterly's Spring 09 issue last week and its lurrrvely. Very inspiring for the impending warmer weather! Sorry for delay in posting, had an intense week of uni and then worked literally all weekend.

"Garden State"
I love how feminine and elegant this is - whilst still being soft and relaxed. Reminds me of some of my favorite books/films; Atonement, Alice in Wonderland, The Great Gatsby and The Secret Garden.

Models: Olivia Hamilton (Chic) & Caitlin Lomax

"Style News: Jewellery Update"
My heart stopped when I saw this Kate Sylvester necklace. I NEED this!!! It is totally Pebbles Flinstone (one of my style idols - don't ask). I went into the High Street store on friday and the girls said the pieces would be coming in on Monday. I am so amped.

"Naughty But Nice"
I'm tripping all over nude toned pieces at the moment. So calm and cool, yet they have a subtle sex appeal. I love how this editorial has paired them with sharp black and soft grey - adding warmth to otherwise monochromatic and strong pieces. Shanay Hall (one of my faves) kills it, as always. And I am seriously coveting those ears.. Wearable much? Maybe just a little bit?
And can't wait for the weather to warm up enough to wear socks and ballet flats. Have been craving to do this look all winter!

"Sweat Success"
Most people who know my know that I'm a bit of a gym bunny. I never feel more alive than when I have just busted my ass at the gym or run my legs off or been a dog/swan/cat/cow at Pilates. So I loved the article (and accompanying looks) on workout gear; just the right amount of high-tech, girly and old school. The minute it gets warm enough I'm treating myself to a pair of the killer teeny "Run Shorts" from Stella McCartney. Also loving the Stella sports bra and the deliciously retro Nike windrunner.

"Brave New World"
I think the Fashion Quarterly team have been reading my mind! I recently wrote about my love for sexy sideswept hair for Beauty Bible; and here they have executed it PERFECTLY. It's the perfect match for the deliciously sexy looks in this spread; glam, retro and futuristic. Perfectly foiled by the warm, earthy strength of the rocky setting.

"Western Front"
Ever since I was a little tyke I've loved The Great American West; probably due to stories told by my American dad, my obsession with books like Little House On The Prairie - and my later studying of (and love for) American history at high school. So obvz this trend page ticks all my boxes!

"Get The Look: Nude"
As I've mentioned, I love a good nude. So I was pleasantly surprised, and somewhat shocked even to see this fully sick ballerina dress from Annah Stretton (I'm not usually a Stretton girl at all) but this is excellent. And I have already had several rambles about my love for the peachy jean jacket from Twenty Seven Names.

19/05/09: Net-A-Porter

I love black outfits executed in differing textures; leather, wool, lace - all care of Lover. An all black outfit tends to be a tad harsh (especially on fair blondes like me, doh) but cream, grey and gold pieces are perfect to soften - and a fab excuse to pile on the accessories.
Clockwise: Lover Madeline short duffle jacket, Thread Social Silk cuffed pants, Kenneth Jay Lane Topaz ball necklace, Balenciaga Stingray and suede sandal, Lover Angels Zip leathe r skirt, Brian Atwood Suede bootie, Lover Initiation stretch bodysuit, Emilio Pucci Python bag.

Unearthed

I love these pendants from Unearthen made from crystals and bullet casing - not only do they look amazing, but possess all the properties and protection of crystals (if you believe that stuff). Personally I love mysticism, the zodiac etc!

Left to Right: Black tourmaline and kyanite, Tangerne quartz, Bixebite topaz and amethyst.

"The uniting of the crystal and empty bullet creates a powerful opposition, causing old dreams and new beginnings to fall upon its bearer. For this reason, the stone with the right properties for your needs will inherently attract you. Each crystal carries distinct properties. Its aims may be to clear your mind, focus your heart on goals you struggle to achieve, provide comfort in difficult times, or simply remind you of the balance between destruction and creation. "

Chains

Loves it.

UK Vogue Oct 08 - Givenchy Fall 08

Outfits

I wore this to do errands with mama at local shops yesterday. The top is Karen Waker from her (Southern Hemisphere) Summer 08/09 collection "Angels" (loose silk that is sooo nice and cool to wear in this hot weather), and the shorts are vintage Levis I cut off ages ago. The denim blue goes really well with the blue flowers in the print of the top.

And today I wore this (channeling a bit of the Stella McCartney aesthetic - or so I like to hope). I love mixing pale, beigey tones together - especially in summer. The satin shorts from American Apparel are sooo nice and cool (today was v humid).
And this is the necklace combo I've been wearing lately..
My beloved jet plane pendant (birthday present form Mama - best EVER) is from Karen Walker.

Crabby

I really want this Cancer Charm from Pilgrim Jewellery! They are stocked at Flying Saucers, and my friend who works there is ordering on in for me. So excited!

New Year, New Jewellery!

So I have the Karen Walker Jetplane necklace...
Its the love of my life and I wear it everyday (best birthday present ever - merci Mama!). Not a day goes by that I don't get at least one compliment. But what piece to purchase next?...

I think I deserve a shiny treat after my workfilled Christmas and New Years.
