J'Adore Atonement

"Dearest Cecilia, the story can resume. The one I had been planning on that evening walk. I can become again the man who once crossed the surrey park at dusk, in my best suit, swaggering on the promise of life. The man who, with the clarity of passion, made love to you in the library. The story can resume. I will return. Find you, love you, marry you and live without shame.."

Atonement was on last night! Mama and I watched it (again.. And I've read the novel). God its a beautiful film. I love the whole first act; visually - hyper saturated colours, floaty floral fabrics, visible heat, and thematically - the sense of waiting (a strong theme and feeling the permeates the whole film), the role of fantasy and escapism, imagination and dreams, truth and lies, repression and longing...

I also find the scenes at Dunkirk so indescribably moving...
