NYFW Spring 2010: First Up

So it's started, and although no massive names have shown yet, what I have seen so far is very promising. Everyone seems to be taking the hardship of the recession and the needs of consumers and turning it into wearable, yet appealing collections.

Jenni Kayne
The luxe twist on classic sportswear pieces from Jenni Kayne hit the spot. The injection of sequins adds some unexpected fun and glamour, as do the midriff cuts.
This has been a fave so far. Love the sheer pieces, the geometric panelling and the chainmail. And that all were executed in beautiful nude tones.

I love the sleek, crisp, minimalist of these looks. Particularly love the contrast of slick tailoring with sheer pieces.

I love the wrapped bandage dresses that play with black, sheerness and some killer prints - that look like Monet's waterlilly paintings on acid.
