Vogue Australia Sept 09 50th Issue: Cover

The 50th issue of Australian Vogue's covers (yup, four) are out and are really quite lovely. The vintage-esque illustrations of the classy Cate Blanchett by David Downton are both refreshing and nostalgic. Patty Huntington has some shots of the editorial of Abbey Lee and Catherine McNeil on her Frockwriter blog - I can't wait to see the whole issue!

Resort 2010: Christopher Kane & Elise Overland

CHRISTOPHER KANE
Kane's resort collection has been receiving quite a bit of commentary already (picked up crazy-fast by the awesome Patty Huntington) - regarding his apocalyptic prints. Those, and the sky-scapes I've picked for here really are quite beautiful. I am a total sucker for any apocalyptic/sky/galaxy prints - I still so so so regret not getting one of the stunning pieces from Ksubi's Summer 07/08 collection "Said The Rainbow To The Apocalypse" - one of those classic shopping regrets. And that's pretty much the best title for anything ever.

ELISE OVERLAND
Love the slick leather here from Elise Overland's collection - especially the paneled pants! Am obsessed with panels right now - have used them a ton in my garments at Uni this semester.

RAFW: Karla Spetic, Beat Poet & Kirrily Johnston

Sorry I've been a bit behind posting, It's been a hectic last half of a week - ton of uni, and had to work. And had 5:20am wakeups (and four hours sleep so I could finish my design assignment). Its been hard to keep up with all the fantastic coverage coming out of Australia (thank god for the likes of Isaac, Patty Huntington and Melissa Hoyer) - don't even get me started on the tsunami of it on twitter!

KARLA SPETIC
I'm a total sucker for outfits in washed out pastels - so I love these tan and bright-baby-blue looks from Karla Spetic. Have also been pretty much obsessed with scalloped edges ever since the Spring 09 collections of Christopher Kane and Chloe.
Love the washed out semi-kitsch floral pieces too - those leggings are to die for.

BEAT POET
I love (and wear) menswear nearly as much as I do womens. Half the time I look like a boy anyway - much to my fathers chagrin. I just find that their tees and shirts fit me so much better than womens ones.

Understandably I pretty much died when I saw the Beat Poet collection - this is how all males should dress. A bit dark, a bit tailored.. And just enough badass grungyness. The skinny jeans look great paired with the tailored jackets coats and vests. How often do you see men in a white skinny jean and it actually looks good?
Love the vest over the sheer sleeves in the fourth look along. And that coat in the second is pretty much perfection.

KIRRILY JOHNSTON
Gorgeous palette at the Kirrily Johnston show - creams, whites and washed out oranges. V warm but soft. Love the contrast with the black pieces and the slicked back (and wrapped around necks) hair. Badass boots too!

No5 - Tallulah

Frockwriter has a preview of one of the two covers of the fifth issue of No magazine - this one of the gorgeous and inimitable Tallulah Morton, shot by Mark "The Cobrasnake" Hunter. Can't wait to get my hands on the new issue - they keep getting better and better! Takes me forever to read as every article is great, but thats the beauty of it.

Peek: Karen Winter 09

I die. Frockwriter has this preview of the cover of Karen magazine's winter issue. Classic beauty with the pop of colour - works so well. Olivia O'Driscoll is stunning. I think editor Marian Simms sums up the mood of the magazine (and a lot of people in general);
"Everyone is feeling that times are bleak and I wanted to have a bit of celebration”
Apparently the issue also features Jessica Hart - another fave face of mine. Can't wait for this issue! Every issue makes me so proud that this comes out of Australasia.

New Calvin..

I don't know if you have seen the (rather disturbing) new shots for Calvin Klein on PonyStep.. But there's a really interesting article on Frockwriter about them...

Economy: RIP Runway Reporter

Another "Oh no.." post..
Runway Reporter website is being shut down in the next couple of weeks. ACP media are shutting down a lot of their websites (Cleo, Metro - which i love!) and there are going to be big redundancies.
Isaac Likes and Frockwriter are both definitely worth checking out in regards to this.
