FrontRowDiary + RUMI NEELY for NZ Fashion Week!!!! And me too!!

MAJOR news you guys. So we all know and love (and idolise) the divine Rumi Neely of Fashion Toast...

Well she's coming to New Zealand! Yes! She'll be working with the Front Row Diary Team - editor (and all round awesome) Anna Fitzpatrick and me (!). I'm pretty much hyperventilating right now, I've been inspired by Neely for so long - can't actually believe I'll be meeting (and working with!) her.

Rumi says...
“The one thing I love about my job is being able to share my passions with such a global audience, and recently that has included some brilliant New Zealand designers. I can’t wait to come to New Zealand as part of the FrontRowDiary team and see what the week produces.”

Lacey Legs

Rumi from Fashion Toast just posted these insanely awesome lace bell bottoms. I NEED SOME. like asap. They are  Lace Flair Pants by With Hearts In My Eyes (available at Bona Drag).

I'm thinking I may DIY a pair (have got leggings in my to-sew pile so these should be simple). The tight thighed bell bottom silhouette has been seriously growing on me ever since seeing the mindblowing tie dye pair in Balmain's Spring 08 collection - I think they work best when not done in denim actually.

25/04/09: Street Style and Bloggers

Im loving seeing all the fashion coming out of the Northern Hemisphere as they transition into spring and summer - I'm always jealous of whatever season they are having, probably because the bloggers, streetstyle photogs and fashion mags make it look so appealing. When we were in the heat of summer I was lusting after army jackets, fur gillets and thigh high boots. So I pretty much torture myself year round. Clever.

Do We Dare? Tied Shirts

Believe it or not, I'm really loving the look of tied shirts at the moment - I was fully working this trend way back when I was eight. Don't know if thats a good sign or bad - but then I've been wearing bike shorts, baggy tees and chucks again too. But will people "get it" or just think you are totally daggy (god havnt used that word since I was... Eight actually!).

Viva Le Males

The New Zealand Herald's Viva from yesterday (always the highlight of my midweek) was the best its been in ages! Dedicated to menswear - which I love, and wear.

V interesting piece on Stolen Girlfriends Club about their super successful branding and image.

"We did everything backwards, but I think we did the right thing about growing and establishing a brand, which is really hard these days," says Moore. "People don't realise that if you don't have a brand, you don't have anything. We stumbled across ours so to speak, but we did create a little bit of a following. People wanted to know what the name meant, what was behind it, it had this whole thing of mystery and interpretation as well and everyone kind of took ownership of it."

Their white safety pin dress from the current collection featured on FashionToast.com, where blogger Rumi Neely declared them her "new favourite label". That's kind of a big deal when you realise that style websites and bloggers like Neely are quickly becoming just as, if not more, influential than mainstream fashion magazines.

And they have me v excited for the summer collection - two words: Robert Palmer! Robert Palmer!
we wanna do something different and surprise people'," says Moore. "The new summer collection is heaps more modern, with bolder colours and detailing, a touch more sophisticated. Think Robert Palmer videos."

They also had an article by Isaac Hinden Miller on his insanely admirable (and rewarding) efforts at Paris Mens Fashion Week. The dude seriously gets an A++ for effort and tenacity.

13/04/09: Fashion Toast

Love this Erin Wasson X RVCA dress. Body con + floral = sick. Perfect for Runi Neely - was just a matter of time before she got her hands on one. God I wish I had a pair of those Emma Cook for Topshop boots also.

10/04/09: Fashion Toast

The fab Rumi kills it again, love the rich fur vest with the subtle foil of an all black outfit (the sheer black adds interest and depth). All vintage too! That piece looks so warm. Wanting!

Rumi & Alexander

Rumi is a style titan - girl always looks out of this world. I DIE for this jumper - have it coveted insanely from the minute it came down the runway at Alexander Wang. Too perfect; loose and comfy, but with uber hot sheer mesh cut outs.

Refinery Hearts Rumi

Refinery 29 have done a great interview with the amazingly inspiring and so-cool-you-wish-you-could-hate-her Rumi Neely of Fashion Toast (daily must have reading - and always inspiring.) She is without a doubt one of the best dressed people I have come across.
