22/08/09: Net-A-Porter

Winter is fading here in little old NZ - so nice to feel the air and sun on my actual skin!  I swear my mood has improved tenfold.

As a last farewell to winter, I've put together a couple of killer winter outfits c/o the delicious new goodies on Net-A-Porter. All winter I've pretty much lived in oversized sweater/shirt/jacket layers, skinny pants in warm fabrics and boots. It has served my very well!
Left to Right: Preen Arch Cable Knit Sweater, Pucci Glossy Python Pants, Alexander Wang Jaime Creeper leather boots, Marni Alpaca Tote.

Left to Right: Alexander McQueen Lacquered cable-knit mini dress, Pucci Zip detailed leather pants, Alexander Wang Brenda Chain Bag, Camilla Skovgaard Satin chain-embellished sandals.

I just had to post these ace statement jackets. Jackets like that are pure gold - toss them on over anything and your good to go.
Left to Right: Preen Reversible Mongolian Jacket, Matthew Williamson Printed Mongolian wool-trimmed coat, Dacute Light Shearling Jacket

I'm still searching for the perfect pair of intense buckled ankle boots, lusting over these shall suffice until a pair comes my way.
Left to Right: Phi Buckled Leather Ankle Boots, Alexander Wang Ankle Boots, Tabitha Simmons Suede and leather ankle boots

Camilla Skovgaard does some amazing shoes and boots. I particularly love the grooved soles - they convey a slick futuristic workboot quality.

And man have I been coveting Miu Miu's sequined and embellished socks since they came down the runway. They combine garish luxury, kitsch and both childlike and nanna qualities. I NEEEED these!

The Met's Costume Institute Gala 09: Neo-Supers

Unsurprisingly, the models kicked ass on the red carpet at The Met Ball. The neo-supers all looked mind blowing - and super fresh. This is why they are payed the big bucks and front pretty much everything. They look to die for on the runway, in editorial, in candids and on the red carpet.

My three all time faves looked stunning. Trust Erin to blow everyone away in some insane zipped leather pants. That girl is an icon. Sasha looks absolutely ethereal and yet somehow earthy at the same time. I LOVE her hair. Best of the night. Daria gives a tiny sparkly dress edge and mystery (total opposite of what we saw on Giselle).
Left to Right: Erin Wasson in Phi, Sasha Pivovarova in Giambattista Valli & Daria Werbowy in Balmain

The other big names looked amazing too. Anja is made for Balmain (her shoulders do worry me somewhat though...). Miranda manages to be super sexy but not vulgar. Caroline looks like a total princess - every girls dream, and I could SO see that dress on an Olsen (probably MK). I can't tell you how much Im dying for that insane chainmail dress by Alexander Wang that Lara is wearing. She's got the figure to wear it instead of it wearing her.
Left to Right: Anja Rubik in Balmain, Miranda Kerr in Jil Sander, Caroline Trentini in John Galliano, Kerr, Alexander Wang & Lara Stone in Alexander Wang.

NYFW FALL 09: Phi & Doo.Ri

As you all know by now, I definitely have a thing (fetish? obsession?) for black leather - so I understandably die for what Phi did with it in it's Fall 09 collection. Amazing use of texture and linear elements (and zips! More zips!). I think the sheen of leather is always amazingly complemented by the rich, deep colour of velvet - and also the softness and luxury of fur. These looks are perfect examples of how all black outfits can be so interesting.

Similarly, I am also a total magpie. Love these molten dresses and star sprinkled lace tights from the Doo.Ri collection. Dark yet glittery and metallic - and definitely not your typical sparkly, girly dresses. Also love the middle look with its fur, beading and sheerness. And the makeup and hair of this show was standout for me - soft loose ponytail, boyish side part, fair (washed out even) skin and dark lips.
