There's nothing better than dirty glitter and tight metallic lycra. On that note, I really must plan outfit for MGMT concert on Tuesday night. 

Apologies for lack of wordy shpiel this morning, epic hangover from 21st last night - will post outfit and details of delish dinner and wine when I am feeling more human. Am now off to the gym to attempt to sweat the alcohol out.

Leathers and Letters

My recent (near) acquisition of totally sick Claude Maus leather leggings (thank god for layby) and Chloe Sevigny's recent killer Proenza Schouler outfit have got me tripping on intense leather-full looks even more than usual.

And while I'm on a noir tangent, this is necklace heaven. I'm pretty much obsessed with the YSL logo - I blame studying typography at uni. So this I adore. blatantly logo-tastic but still classy and simple.

Wanting me some Jeremy Scott for Adidas!! I'm a total sucker for anything retro-athletic and logo-ed. And how sick is that leopard hoodie?! It's got a cat head! Seriously! Neeeed.

Deer Emma Cook

I pretty much adore everything Emma Cook does - especially the mindblowingly patterned lace tights and dresses she did for Fall 08, and her now famous (and impossible to get) platform brothel creeper boots for TopShop. So when I heard she and TopShop had collaborated again, I knew I would love. And I do. Of the seven pieces my pick is the delicate tee (is that silk/cotton?) with a fab deer and doily print - just kitschy enough. And perfectly executed in the soft grey.

I've been obsessed with deer (and there kin of reindeers, mountain goats etc - basically anything with a sweet pair of horns and long legs) since forever. Probably because of childhood love of Bambi. So this I need!!!

Chloe Does Leather

Well the Fug Girls didn't love this, but I do! Our girl Chloe totally kills it in Proenza Schouler. I actually love that its leather but not tight - refreshing, refrains from bordering on hoe-territory (and is way more comfortable). Also, the classic Sevigny beauty look of soft, relaxed (normal looking!!) hair and minimal makeup (freckles are a good thing ladies) act as a perfect foil to the full on leather and exposed zip.

Twenty Firsts are quite exciting things! Am counting down to mine this saturday night. Have half my outfit - a totally sick long sleeved lace bodysuit by Stolen Girlfriends Club (have been coveting it for forever, and this was the perfect reason to purchase) and am halfway through sewing a gorgeous skirt out of the floral fabric from Karen Walker's "Angels" collection I picked up in their sale. And invites have been posted - below is the front of them, am quite pleased. Excited excited excited.

Retro Wristwatch

Im loving deliciously retro watches at the moment. Cute, ironic and a world away from both the uber-bling types and the more minimal. The best look clunky and retro-futuristic, or are kitschy plastic homages to the classic Rolex shape - think Toy Watches. Locally, Good As Gold have a fab selection and Superette have quite a few different styles of Toy Watches.

Fade To Blue

I always love a good denim editorial - especially when they riff on the classic denim look - white tees, leather, a blonde with a tan etc. This does an amazing job of dressing down (in the best possible way) some of the sickest pieces from the Spring collections - Balmain's jacket, Givenchy's leather and denim pants. Oh and I'm not gonna lie, I love the knee high socks with the two tone brogues.

Breton

I feel like I have been hunting for the perfect Breton top for forever. Matelot (nautical) stripes in cream and navy are so classic - yet not boring as some "classic pieces" are. They manage to be preppy yet casual, chicly feminine yet boyish. And deliciously French - epitomised by Francoise Hardy, Jane Birkin and Audrey Tatou in Coco Avant Chanel. The breton is also a typical Alexa Chung look - really love the red version she wore recently on her MTV show, is a fresh take on the classic look.

I am particularly lusting after the ones from Burberry's and A.P.C (center and right) and closer to home To Sir With Love's unbelievably soft cashmere sweater. I love the ones where the stripes start from the upper chest - breaks up the intensity a bit.

Alexander Wang Fall 09 Accessories

Am currently lying in bed feeling ill and sorry for myself - so I think some accessory-porn c/o the obscenely talented Alexander Wang is in order.

This backpack is possibly one of the best bags I have ever seen. And so refreshing and has a trippy combination of edgy danger and youthfull innocence (well when did you last wear a backpack). I have been searching for the perfect vintage black leather backpack for a while now. But shall keep dreaming of this one.

The September Issue

Sooo went to see The September Issue at The Civic for the Film Festival last night (braved the wind and gales - arrived looking like a bedraggled teenage boy. Great. Anyway...

... The film was even better than I had hoped! The draaama was insane - totally beat down Devil Wears Prada. What I really liked that although it was very revealing and there where a lot of "OHMYGOD" and laugh out loud moments, it was still quite restrained and sensitive - thoughtfull and a bit sad. The most affecting things were almost what was left unsaid (awkward silences, looks etc). Both Anna and Grace Coddington come across as incredibly talented, strong women - but you definitely see a vulnerability to both. Coddington seems heartbroken at time that so many of her exceptional and beloved spreads get killed. And Anna has obviously been affected by the fact her family find what she does a bit of a joke. Andre Leon Talley came across as a bit of a clown - decked out in Louis Vuitton for "tennis" anyone? 

If you have the chance to see this - definitely do. And although it was meant to expose the industry a bit (harshness, superficiality etc) it only made me love it more.

Leather Legs

Okay so I am on cloud nine right now.... I FINALLY found a pair of leather leggings!!!! Was walking out of Black Box when I noticed a pile of buttery soft Claude Maus leather leggings. Actually had a heart attack - raced to the fitting room. They are so perfect. Naturally I laybyed asap. Can't wait to be reunited with these - I've been searching for the perfect pair of leather leggings/pants for about four years now.

Oh Milla, this is really too good. Am absolutely stunned with these - the late 80s/early 90s vibe is totally perfect. Endearingly and nostalgically dated, but they still feel modern. Jovovich definitely is reminiscent of a young Linda Evangelista. Loving the retro leathers, pleat front pants, big earrings and high waists. And slicked back dude-hair. Im pretty sure these subconsciously made me bust todays combo of vintage leather bomber and high waisted acid wash Karen Walker skinnies.

"Through the Looking Glass"

Oh man these are lovely. There's something both refreshing and nostalgic about the combination of illustration and photography. These really remind me of teenage drawings on magazines - make me want to attack some of my (less precious) mags with my pens.
