I've finally got started on my epic dvd pile (its kept company by my book pile and magazine pile) and watched
This Is England. Stunning film - set in England in 1983 it tells the story of a twelve year old boy who finds mentors and friends in a group of skins. Surprisingly poignant and sensitive - the violence is restrained and measured, certainly not gratuitous. Touches on universal themes of belonging, loneliness, family and values.
And I LOVED the costumes - skinny denim (blue, bleached, acidwash), fitted
Ben Sherman checked shirts, suspenders,
docs, army jackets, diy tattoos. This will DEF be a style influence.
