Karl Loves Brian Too

Brian Jones is one of my favorite male muses (along with all the other Stones - they're my boys!). He's the sole cause of my inexplicable desire to possess an american flag shirt. I also love his iconic mop of blonde hair - and crushed all over the incarnation of it that Karl put his girls in for Chanel's Resort 09 show. Makes me want to get a fringe cut into my new crop.

Book Club

I am a total Lover fiend, and have been so for years. Every collection is mind-blowing and perfect, and I LOVE the story behind every one. I think my favorite back store would have to be for their "Altamont" collection - but I am a tad biased as I am totally obsessed with the Rolling Stones. At the moment I'm pretty much hanging out like a junkie for their Summer 09/10 collection "White Moon Rising". Can. Not. Wait

Marianne Faithfull

Not long ago I read Marianne Faithfull's autobiography Memories, Dreams and Reflections. I seriously recommend it - such a great read. Quite thoughtfull and perceptive. Her style in her from the sixties is a constant influence - perfectly encapsulating the preppy/bohemian look that came from their lifestyle and thats so iconic of that period in Britain. The big square sunglasses and perfect double breasted coats and jackets from Karen Walker are perfect.

Hedi Slimane: Leather and Lace

Heres a bit of something for the males from the ever amazing Hedi Slimane. Im a sucker for guys in leather, skinny jeans and necklaces. Love that bullet belt and the Stones-esque luxury of that black lace. Don't even get me started on that studded leather jacket.. Seriously.

Muse: Jerry Hall

Right now I'm loving the young Jerry Hall. Statuesque, long blond hair and Mick on her arm. She was featured recently as one of Style.Com's "Beauty Icons". When I think jerry, I think body con, cut outs, asymmetric and long tailored blazers - all in block colours of black, cream, or brights. And with some kickass bold jewelry of course. All of which are major trends from the recent shows.

Classic pieces would be bandage dresses, metallics and a sharp oversized blazer - all of which I am digging in a cream/nude palette (a fave right now) as it gives it both a softer, more feminine edge, but also a sense of high maintenance/untouchable/pampered.

Loving: Altamont by Lover

Ive been obsessed with Lover's Winter 07 collection "Altamont" ever since it first came out.. And today I had another long lingering look through it, and watched the short film on youtube that went with it. Its a stunning collection, inspired by the Rolling Stones infamous Altamont Free Concert in 1969 and all the girls that were there "Waiting for Mick" - it's very feminine and girly yet earthy and rough. It totally captures the late sixties feel without ever being "retro" or "boho". I love the loose yet sturdy dresses with the woolen white tights and the long hair. Tallulah Morton is stunning in these shots - she embodies the Lover girl. I crushed on the brown dress in Superette (priced about $400) for sooo long... Then a few months later karma rewarded me and I found it in my size in vintage store Tatty's for $60! Fate! Perfect condition, and so well made.
