18/05/09: Retail Therapy

I found half a minute yesterday to treat myself to a teeny bit of shopping - hit up Karen Walker (heaven as usual), Macaroni Penguin - unfortunately none of the To Sir With Love they got in is quite what I'm looking for... No new cashmere for me. Tear. And popped into Superette. Tried on menswear - typical I know, but mens tees fit SO much better than womens ones and tend to be more refined. I tried on a Bassike tee in a gorgeous army green, but ended up leaving with a good old American Apparel v-neck that I have needed for ages (kept planning outfits around it and then realising I hadn't actually bought it yet.. My bad). Loved that Chronicles Of Never vest too.. It hangs beautifully and is the perfect grey. Boys are so lucky. After months (possibly a whole year) of lusting after Ksubi's 'The Ara' sunnies I have decided to invest. They are just too damned perfect. Still wanting Karen Walker Helter Skelters too. Winter still requires sunnies.

27/03/09: Outfits, Sleep & Sales

So as you probably have picked up, I am not generally a fan of taking outfit shots - I always feel like a total dick, shy, contrived etc. And always look way to serious! But I am relenting tonight as the lovely Cindy of True North Style has specifically requested a shot of what I wore to the Karen Walker show, and she is a loyal reader. 

I've already had many a ramble about being v excited about wearing my new Stolen Girlfriends Club skinnies (they are basically a pants/leggings lovechild, so comfy and warm! And the tartan panels are v flattering) and my new Karen Walker skull-rope, and inspired by Balmain, Alexander Wang and some Tank and French Vogue editorials.

Wearing: Stolen Girlfriends Club Plaid skinnies, American Apparel Sheer bodysuit, Supre Tank, Country Road Darlene T-bar wedges, Karen Walker Jewelry (skullrope and jet plane) & faithful Tissot mens watch.

Ps: Will write up about the show tomorrow morning when I am not such a zombie - have had way to many 5:30am wake ups in a row this week and minimal sleep. Sleep in tomorrow! Also tomorrow (and sunday), for anyone keen (and you should be!) there is a Stolen Girlfriends Club sample sale from 10-4 at 11 Westmoreland St West, Grey Lynn. Excite!

Oh I had to laugh lastnight; We were in the bathroom of a club, and out of the seven girls in there, three were wearing this bodysuit (my friend, and two others - I have one too, but was wearing a different bodysuit from Ruby, will post on it soon - its v cool.). 

Needless to say, we bonded. What saved the moment from being potentially catty was that this is such a staple, classic basic! Probz would have been a different story if it was something more unique/eyecatching. I love being a girl sometimes.

Lets Do... Bike Shorts And Cut Offs

My bike shorts (and silky shorts - more on those soon) from American Apparel arrived last night! Wore them for the first time today and LOVED todays outfit. New skull tee, with bleached rolled cut offs (another DIY) and my white bike shorts. I love that the two pairs of shorts are nearly the same colour but not quite, and the white bike shorts emphasize the skull print on the tee. I also wore my patent black Darlene wedges from Country Road (they are FAB and super comfy and go with EVERYTHING). I love wearing a boy-ish outfit with heels/wedges and lots of jewelry. I also chucked my soft, oversized, brown Cue blazer on when I did my Ponsonby errands this morning and it really dressed it up - nice contrast between the casual, boyish shorts-tee combo and the dressier blazer.  

Wanting: Silky Shorts

Tres fab. Paired with a loose tank and a blazer a la Stella McCartney. Soft, sensual yet a bit boyish. They usual look v cute over black opaques (care of Fashion Toast.)

I've had quite a search in stores, to no avail unfortunately. So have purchased a pair online from American Apparel - the Satin Charmeuse Roller Shorts. Fingers crossed they will be okay!
